From Denmark to Spain with lots of love and sunshine!

Hola!

We arrived in Spain last night and it's wonderful here - everything's blossoming, we're eating strawberries, drinking cava and planning on renting a scooter to do some sightseeing.
Last week in Bornholm was full of activities and went so fast and I cannot even describe how much I hate saying goodbye. A little about the people we met, sheep shearing, hidden cave and thimbleweed meadows next to the rocky waterfall.

Us two enjoying a scooter ride in Malaga city centre and trying to keep up with locals.

I've been away from Bornholm oven one day now and I already miss those people and animals and the scenery. I really don't miss the weather, because I like it nice and warm but Malene's dinners and evening chats and feeding Percy the lamb and going for walks with Angut were just so perfect!
Last Friday the Americans Andrew and Sara (new workawayers) came to Bornholm to do the exact and much more than we did. They were really nice and it was their first time in Europe, I am sure that they are in the correct place if they want a good picture of how Europe is supposed to work and to get the taste of real Denmark culture.

The round church
We went to see the Round Church on our last week in there and it was definitely worth the visit and amazing how almost 1000 years ago somebody came up with and actually made it into life through so many years of planning and production. After that we went to see the waterfall and the way which lead there was covered with thimbleweed, we all had a nice time climbing the rocks up to the waterfall too. The day was sunny and warm (it rained the day before and the day after - must have been a sign for us to have the perfect Saturday and so we did). Then we had a lovely picnic near the art museum and went to see the bat cave. The stairs were steep like those in the swimming pools and the cave narrow as the future of a supermodel - slowly shrinking. The Holy cliffs surrounding the cave were just amazing - nothing like that in my home country Estonia.

Thimbleweed that was covering forest paths like in a fairytale

Well, you got to have some fun while working too!

Sunday was finally the day when the sheep shearer came and all of us were looking forward to it. Originally, the shearer was supposed to come weeks ago from now, but it was raining that day so it was more reasonable to wait with the shearing process. The whole thing was new to both of us and the Americans. First, we baited as many sheep we could with food to the small eating area to shut the gate - we only got three of five. The last two we had to catch from the run - Kristjan jumped on top of Snöfrid like master sheep rider and we managed to catch both of them and their lambs.

After being sheared the sheep looked extremely funny - naked, pink and strange. They were even so strange that they did not recognise each other, their lambs kept baa'ing and running from sheep to sheep - well it was a mess. They were all itchy going for a scrub towards each tree and I couldn't help but laugh every time I saw them. On Sunday we also decided to make some BBQ and nice salads in addition and it was amazing - I can swear I taste the difference between organic and not - it's so much purer and whatever flavours you add are more intensive. Falling in love with this organic lifestyle - just a shame it's still so damn expensive compared to all other prices, not sure I could afford this when going to university.

Heimdall 50% sheared - staying calm while being sheared unlike the ladies.

We learned so much with our stay in Bornholm. We got to know what it means to have bees and how the honey making process works. We got the chance to see inside the hive and even to scrape fresh honey and wax from a frame and it was the best sweetest chewing gum ever! Sheep shearing and caring part were new to us. Also I would have never thought that I would ever be taking care of a newborn lamb, feeding him from a bottle and taking him for walks like a dog - that was simply amazing.

Holy cliffs and local birds
On Monday morning we took the ferry to Ystad Sweden and a train from there to Copenhagen. I haven't felt so bad on a ferry a long time now - it was just going from the sea back up to the sky - impossible to walk and I was just sitting there with closed eyes waiting for it to be over... The train ride was much more pleasant - when we arrived the Copenhagen central station we started walking towards Paper Island where was supposed to be some cheap street food. Oh boy, it was a long walk through the rain, but it was totally worth it.

There was a huge indoors hall covered with small booths and stalls everybody selling their own local goods from pancakes and tacos to noodles or fried chicken. Kristjan chose to have some tacos and an organic hot dog which was definitely the best of the kind and I would have it again anytime! I had some falafel in pita bread because I still can't forget the taste of the one I had in Jordan with my big sis. Next up we went to the exclusive food market in Norreport and I got some tea (jasmine - I just love it) to bring home, then we walked back to the central station, took our luggage from the locker and took the train and metro towards the airport.

Walk to the waterfall - it was a nice yet muddy climb up the rocks
As soon as we had said the words that we feel like locals everywhere since we get the hang of how public transport works - we got lost. We got off the train and this was not where we were supposed to be. We met few more people who were looking for the airport (they were mostly running around with suitcases and panicking). After few stops with some trains we were at the airport and everything went normal after that - check in, security check, gate search, boarding. The pilot was even so professional that I didn't mind the take-off and landing - wonderful! One of the best flights that I've had. We arrived around 1 AM in the night and when we woke up in the morning we saw the paradise around us.

Nice dinner near the sea, of course, it was accompanied with a
refreshing glass of white wine. Can it get any better?

We are staying in an apartment in a village called Torremolinos, we have two balconies, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Breakfast is included in the price, we have the pool area and the beach is in 10 minutes walking distance. Today we rented a 125cc scooter and just fooled around in Malaga. To finish our day even better we had a nice dinner in a local fish restaurant with sea view and the fish was delicious!

A challenging venture around Malaga on a scooter.
The view is wonderful, blue skies, 26 degrees, waves rushing to the shores and washing up brown seashells. I've already gotten a nice or not so nice sunburnt and turned red, unlike Kristjan, who's already brown...
There are not many people since the tourist season has not begun yet, just as we like it - quiet, peaceful but mostly a good variety to the Scandinavian lifestyle.
Tomorrow we are going to our new workaway place to Algodonales and we'll see what it's like when we're there - no spoiling. Never miss a post - subscribe!
